The GRACE Association, interdisciplinary Francophone group for enhanced recovery after surgery, brings together healthcare professionals who are experts in enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS). The fields of activity relevant to achieving its objectives are defined:
A practitioner, paramedical or administrative personnel in the field of healthcare can become a member of GRACE by approval of the Board of Directors. This approval requires a majority vote cast by those present or represented by the Board of Directors.
For that, the applicant must meet the following conditions:
The Board is governed by the elected Chairman of GRACE, or failing that, the Vice-Chairman.
The GRACE Association is composed of 4 Committees (Scientific, Implementation, Specialties and Corporate Associations, External relations). This composition of these Committees is published and updated on the Association’s website.
The Board is elected by secret ballot every time the Board of Directors is renewed. The ballot for this election is a two-round majority system, only the two candidates with the highest number of votes cast by those present or represented can go through to the second round. If the votes are equal, the oldest candidate is considered elected.
The Board of Directors is composed of the Board and the two members of each Committee.
The head of the Scientific Committee is chosen as the preference from among candidates from a university hospital background.
The Chairman, or if they are not available, the secretary, is responsible for organising physical or telephone meetings with the Board and administrative committees, and setting the agenda for the General Meeting.
To ensure its training missions, evaluation of practices and certification, the Board can take seek the assistance of one or more secretaries responsible for these objectives and appointed by the Chairman.
The composition of the Board endeavours to best meet the conditions of representativeness of the profession defined in the statutes.
The Board convenes twice: once the day before the annual symposium and once during the Congress of the AFC (Francophone Accounting Association) (annual General Meeting by video-conference). The report is written by the Secretary General, or their stand-in, and must be validated at the next Board meeting. It is then signed by the Chairman and the General Secretary and communicated to members of the Board of Directors and archived.
All members of the Board are considered members of the Committees, as well as of any structures created by the GRACE Association.
The Board can engage the skills it needs at any time. Under the authority of the Chairman, the Vice-Chairman or secretary is responsible for convening these persons.
The GRACE Association organises an annual symposium and local or regional training sessions in collaboration with the Reference Centres. The aim of the sessions is the diffusion of ERAS.
The running of GRACE is based on the involvement of various different specialties and professions within the Board and Executive Board and various committees. This involvement must be representative of all the stakeholders (university professors and hospital practitioners, employees, paramedics). GRACE leaders do not receive payment for their roles. However, members are reimbursed for expenses incurred as part of missions ordered by the Board of Directors upon presentation of the original documents/receipts. The GRACE association produces specifications that must be met by the care Centres wishing to obtain a “GRACE Centre” label. These specifications are published on the Association’s website. As part of its various missions, GRACE activity involves the production of texts, reports, and also service provision efforts, especially at expert centres. Any production from the various GRACE activities may only be exploited, communicated or published by including the “GRACE” name. This exploitation shall be subject to the prior agreement of members of the Board.
Revenues are from GRACE statutes of various different sources. For the pharmaceutical industry, an entrance ticket (including presence on the website) is set as follows:
This participation is independent from the partnership as part of the annual symposium or regional or local meetings.
The accounting of this revenue as well as the expenses of members of the Association is managed by the Treasurer, member of the Board, in collaboration with a certified accountant from the company, Gestion 4 (56 Boulevard Gustave Flaubert, 63000 Clermont-Ferrand).
The founding members of GRACE are responsible for the creation of the website, the common portal for all GRACE members. This website operates under the aegis of a Steering Committee under the authority of the Scientific Committee with the collaboration of a webmaster from the company, K’Noë (15 Rue Carnot, 94270 Le Kremlin-Bicêtre).
The official website is: www.grace-asso.fr
The official mailbox is: contact@k-noe.fr
The website includes a public access route for patients and a separate access route for professionals. It is not limited to GRACE members. The members of the Board of Directors undertake to provide a short text providing their titles and their areas of interest with a photo. These details are published on the official GRACE website. Members of the Board of Directors may use any communication medium to diffuse the ERAS concept. A repository of slides in PDF format will be set up for this purpose.
GRACE members are encouraged to put their scientific productions online (publications, oral presentations, reports, audits) relating to ERAS.
